A song for Dundee

Why a song?
I'm a songwriter, so it was a natural thing to do. The idea came from my kids, we were messing about with words and tunes.

Why now?
It's been nearly 10 years since inDundee.co.uk was launched, so it seemed like a good time to do something to mark the occasion.

What next?
So far we have one verse and a flexible chorus - you can suggest what to include via song@indundee.co.uk or #BonnieDundee. You can also get the music here, including melody, chords and words so far...

And then?
This summer we're welcoming all your suggestions, then the song will be written, recorded and released in time for the site's 10th anniversary in November 2016.

The words so far:

Bonnie Dundee

Climb the Law on a sunny day and tell me what can you see?
From Strathmartine to the Tay: Bonnie Dundee.

At the back Cox's stack and Lochee,
To the east, Broughty Castle and the sea.
To the south, is the mouth of the river,
The road bridge and the high girders.

Climb the Law on a sunny day and tell me what can you see?
From Mid Craigie to the Tay: Bonnie Dundee.
